Plans and billing
Timescrolly has three plans: Free, Pro and Team. This article explains what each is for and how to change between them; for the current limits and prices, see pricing — they come from Timescrolly's servers and change over time, so this article does not repeat them.
The three plans
Free has no time limit and needs no payment details — it is a genuine starting point, not a trial. Its items can carry images; audio, video and documents need a paid plan, and so does inviting collaborators — on Free, a share link is how you show a timeline to someone. Pro is for one person's own timelines: more room for timelines, items, images and storage, audio, video and documents on items, a longer window of change history, a custom calendar for a floating timeline, the ability to invite collaborators to view or edit your timelines, and suggested edits from your viewers. Team includes everything in Pro for your own timelines, and lets you create up to three teams that own timelines together, each with its own storage. Team is one flat price: it does not depend on how many people are in your teams or what roles they hold.
Who pays for a team
A team is usually paid for by its owner's own Team plan: the owner pays, members never pay to join, and every team the owner creates is covered by that same subscription at no extra cost. Adding members, or making one a contributor or an admin, never changes the bill.
Some teams instead carry their own, separate subscription; its invoices go to the team rather than to a person, and anyone with permission to manage the team can see and act on them from the team's own Billing tab. See Teams and the Team plan for more on team roles.
Upgrading and downgrading
Open Plan and billing from the dashboard menu, choose Pro or Team, and check out.
Moving from Pro up to Team takes effect straight away, and you pay the prorated difference for the rest of the current period. Moving from Team down to Pro, or cancelling, never takes effect immediately: you keep what you already paid for until the end of the current period, and only then move down. Nothing is deleted when that happens — editing and uploads above the new plan's limits simply pause until you are back within them, the people already on your timelines stay (you just can't invite anyone new on Free), and audio, video and documents you already added stay visible and playable. A timeline's custom calendar stays too, and dates in it can still be added and edited; only setting one up or changing it needs a paid plan again. Moving from Team to Pro also pauses any teams that plan was funding, until you subscribe to Team again.
Monthly or yearly
Each paid plan can be billed monthly or yearly; yearly costs less over a year, at the saving shown on pricing. You can switch between them at any time from Plan and billing — Timescrolly's payment provider charges or credits the prorated difference right away.
Invoices and your subscription
Plan and billing lists your invoices, each with a link to view or download it, and a button to manage your payment method and the rest of your subscription details through Timescrolly's payment provider. A team with its own subscription shows the same list on its Billing tab, to anyone who can manage the team.
