Round Oz runs a desert that no one can cross on foot; in The Road to Oz Johnny Dooit builds a sand-boat to get Dorothy's party over it. Neill's map names its four sides: Impassable Desert in the north, Shifting Sands on the map's left, the Great Sandy Waste in the south and the Deadly Desert on the right, where this entity is placed.
